Dear Colleague,

We are pleased to introduce you to our new property in Aix-en-Provence, France:

Clients of travel agents booking through Moira Fitzpatrick will receive a room upgrade at time of check-in, based on space availability; buffet breakfast for two daily; and welcome bottle of wine, fruits and sweets of Provence. Travel agents receive a 12% commission.

Located close to the centre of Aix-en-Provence, this 5-star, 48- room, 18th century hotel combines traditional and contemporary styles. Surrounded by beautifully landscaped French gardens – the very gardens Paul Cezanne frequented to paint his famous Mount Sainte-Victoire – Le Pigonnet has welcomed such diverse celebrities as Princess Caroline, Iggy Pop and Clint Eastwood. The hotel includes a restaurant, outdoor bar and lounge, lounges, meeting facilities, wellness area and spa, outdoor swimming pool, fitness room and hammam.

The General Manager of Hotel Le Pigonnet Therese Blay has more than 23 years experience with Relais & Chateaux, nine of those years recently as GM for Chateaux de la Chevre d’Or on the Cote d’Azur. She oversaw four successful restaurants on property, including the Chevre d’Or Gastronomique Restaurant, a Michelin 2-Star gem.

A cultural capital since Roman times, Aix en Provence offers charm and character with its fine monuments and architecture, narrow winding streets and many shops. Every summer it hosts world-renowned artists at is International Music Festival.

The hotel provides an ideal base to explore the rest of Provence – the bulls and wild horses of the Camargue, the famous Calanques (fijords) at Cassis, the stone Bastide towns of the Luberon and nearby cities of Marseille and Avignon.

Rooms/Suites

Spacious, individually decorated rooms blend turquoise, claret and yellow – the colors of Cezanne. Studio, standard, superior and deluxe rooms, with views of the courtyard or gardens and Mount Sainte-Victoire, offer air conditioning and sound proofing. Some rooms offer terraces. A junior suite is located in a separate building and provides a bedroom, large lounge and two bathrooms, plus a full range of amenities. Renovations will take place in early 2013.

Dining & Lounges

The hotel’s gourmet restaurant Le Riviera serves traditional French cuisine with a Mediterranean flare. Chef Philippe Jourdin, who has earned the prestigious title of Meilleur Ouvrir de France (Best Craftsman of France) has international experience and worked in Michelin 2-starred restaurants, which include Moulin de Mougins and the Four Seasons, Terre Blanche. He serves gastronomique cuisine influenced by sunny Mediterranean flavors. Pastry Chef Guillaume Sage draws on his years of experience to create his own culinary style, which pairs delicate sweet flavors with natural aromas – a delight for both the eyes and the palate.
The bar, reminiscent of a cozy, plush English pub, offers patrons an aperitif, cup of tea or after- dinner drink – as well as salads and sandwiches for lunch or a light dinner. The hotel’s Lounge Club Le 5 is elegantly integrated into the French gardens and offers drinks, tapas and specially programmed lounge music. Guests have a choice of two indoor lounges, ideal for visiting with friends over a cup of tea or reading by a crackling fire.

Rooms/Suites

The hotel provides four meeting rooms accommodating 15 to 65 people. Each has wifi and meeting equipment.

For celebrations, weddings or special occasions, Le Riviera can accommodate up to 65 guests in one room and up to 80 on the terrace – under a canopy of one hundred-year old chestnut trees. The hotel is available for exclusive use and may include aperitif, cocktail and buffet packages as well as a choice of several different multi-course menus.
