As the year draws to a close, we reflect back on the year’s highlights and look forward to the exciting prospects for 2014. This year was certainly star-studded. In Michelin’s recent announcement, our portfolio of Relais & Chateaux hotels achieved an amazing 23 Michelin stars! All of our past starred restaurants kept the same number of stars with Tierra Restaurant at Valdepalacios (south of Madrid) receiving 1-Star. Congratulations to Chef Jose Carlos Fuentes. In October, Moira was fortunate enough to spend two days at this delightful resort sampling its exciting cuisine.
Two new properties in Calgary, Alberta, have recently joined our portfolio. We are pleased to welcome the Kensington Riverside Inn (www.kensingtonriversideinn.com) – a new member of Relais & Chateaux – and the stunning Hotel Arts (www.hotelarts.ca). We look forward to introducing them in more detail next month. Both hotels provide the perfect resting place for travelers’ en-route to the Canadian Rocky Mountains and are renowned not only for their design and service but their restaurants – Yellow Door Bistro, Raw Bar by Duncan Ly and Chef’s Table.

Nestled on the banks of the picturesque Bow River, the Inn combines a countryside setting with all the benefits and amenities of urban life. This former hunting lodge of the 1st Count of Carvahal, has morphed into a gracious country house hotel situated within the 300-acre Palheiro Estate.
